Ways to keep your drains clogged free

Drains and pipes have always been the main and most important part of your household. Just imagine one drain getting clogged and your day becomes full of stress and irritation. This means knowing what to do and what not to do to maintain and prevent your drains from clogging. Let us take a look at the don’ts first.

What you shouldn’t be doing to make sure you avoid drain clogs:

Drain clogs can be bad. Just imagine waking up in the morning to find that the your drains are jammed, and water is not going down. This can be unhygienic, problematic and smelly. What should we do to keep these drains clean?

• Don’t flush down unnecessary things: we often don’t think that much before flushing stuff down in the toilet. It can be a sanitary napkin, tissue papers, wipes and so many other things that don’t dissolve in water. All those things may result in a clogged pipe or drain.
Do’s: Although their are many things you shouldn’t do, their are many things you should be doing in order to prevent this from happening. Maintain a waste bin just for your toilet. This would ensure that you always use your waste bin when you require to dispose off unnecessary things.
• Don’t be unclean when it comes to your toilet: your toilet should be one of the cleanest places in your home or business. You should be taking care of this if you don’t want diseases to spread.
Do’s: You also have drainage connections with your kitchen. Make sure you have a proper cleaning session at least twice a week. This will ensure that nothing is passing off to the drains and the pipes are free of accumulated dust and dirt.
• Don’t let vegetable slices pass through your sink: we have a habit of washing vegetables in our kitchen sink. However, we don’t take care of the pieces passing through the drainage holes.
Do’s: you can use a mesh or a filter in the sink. This will make sure that particles over a particular size don’t pass through the sink pipelines. You can be sure your drains are not clogged because of this.
• Hair problems can lead to pipeline clogging: you will find a number of people have hair fall issues. When you take a bath, these hair particles often get stuck in your pipelines causing a clog. Even if you find that hair is getting accumulated, make it a priority to clean it up. Brush your hair before you get into the washroom to avoid hair fall.
Do’s: Last but not the least, you need to spread awareness. Make people around you become aware of the fact that it is important to keep our drains clean and working. If you have kids at home, don’t overlook their faults. Rather, teach them to do the right things in order to maintain the drainage system of the household clean and up and running.
